Having a hard time managing your priorities?

REVIEW: The 6 Strategies

Practice these and your results will improve.

  1. TIME INTEGRITY
Value your time. Practice makes progress. Use your time on things that move you towards bigger wins.
  2. PLUG THE DRAIN
Time is the great equalizer. How you use your time is often the difference between good and great. Eliminate habits that waste time. Replace those small habits with simple but productive habits.
  3. SET BOUNDARIES
Want work/life balance? It starts by defining times that are for each purpose. Create parameters and stick to them with discipline. Your brain will work more efficiently in both settings when those settings are more clearly defined.
  4. DESIGN WHITE SPACE
Intentionally create blocks of time that have nothing in them. This will give you the time to take advantage of unique opportunities on campus. It will also help your "animal" brain meet it's needs for both "prospect" and "refuge".
  5. LABEL YOUR BIG ROCKS
Put your biggest priorities ahead of the small stuff. Any major projects need to get the most attention. Avoid the distractions and put your focus on the work that will make the biggest difference in your life.
  6. SCHEDULE EARLY
Do you tend to procrastinate? Do the work or study last minute?
You know that isn't a good habit because it creates stress and may leave you with too little time to do something well. Schedule your critical priorities early in the week. Put some time in early to relieve stress and help you to accurately understand the scope of your work. If you've got a big project due on Friday, don't wait until Thursday night. Start work on it on Monday and do a little more on each day.
