We were visited
by aliens from other worlds and were challenged to teach
them something very basic; how to put on and tie a tennis
shoe.
It sounds easy
but they didn't speak any language known to humans. They
were also extremely sensitive to negative energy and touch.
We had to be creative about how we worked with them.
In the end, we were all
successful and we learned lots about communicating in tough
situations:
1.Be patient
When you get frustrated, breathe, re-focus and keep finding
new ways to communicate.
2.
Cooperate
Work with others to find ways to communicate. When you get
frustrated by someone, try to learn more about them to
understand their behavior.
3. Different does not
equal stupid
It's so easy to assume that anyone who is different than you
must be stupid. When working with people of different
genders, races, countries, languages and cultures, assume
that they are smart and that you can learn from them.
4. Show not tell
When a language barrier exists, talking isn't very helpful.
Role model or demonstrate the desired behavior instead.
Practice these skills and
even the aliens will want to hang out with you!
