Cats & Dogs |
How many of us have ever been annoyed by an over eager pupil or attempted to build a relationship with a student who had no desire to know us? Thankfully, NLP expert Michael Grinder has distinguished two primary types of student behavior and given us strategies to build positive relationships with every member of our class. DOGS Like our pet dogs at home, "dog" students have a high degree of emotional dependence. The root of their behavior is a need to please, and they can often be identified as eager to participate in class events. Dogs need "dog food," and this can come in the form of praise, play, or giving them extra tasks to complete. CATS Cats, on the other hand, are a very different breed. Cats neither possess a desire to please their teacher, nor are they dependent on a teacher's affirmation to succeed in class. EDUC |
