Victim vs.
Responsible
Live above
the line.
The
line represents anytime that we make a mistake. In that moment we
can make any of several choices. Some of those choices are "below
the line" and some are "above the line". The choices that are below
the line will strip you of an opportunity to learn from your
mistakes. Those behaviors are:
- Laying blame
- Making excuses
- Denial
- Quitting
At one time or another, we have all chosen a
behavior that is below the line. Each time, we have allowed
ourselves to be a VICTIM. A victim is someone who is not in control
of their outcomes. Life just happens "to" a victim and they are
always "dealing with" or "coping with" something that they refuse
take ownership for creating.
The behaviors above the line demonstrate a
RESPONSIBLE mindset. They allow you to learn from your mistakes.
Some of the behaviors that are above the line are:
- Acknowledging that you have made a
mistake
- Taking responsibility and ownership for
your actions
- Making informed choices
- Pursuing personal freedom
Responsible people are very much in control of
their lives. They "handle" situations and see mistakes as "learning
opportunities" for growth and improvement. As a result, they exude
humility and develop trusting relationships. These behaviors open up
a wider range of opportunities and lead them on a path to greater
freedom.
Where do you want live? The choice is
yours...every moment of every day.
