Building Trust
Lessons from the Win As Much As You Can game.

The Win As Much As You Can game illustrated some clear opportunities for improving the ways in which we develop trust in our relationships:

Model Consistently

Demonstrate consistent behaviors that reflect your values. If you waiver and change your values often, it is difficult for people to determine what is important to you.

Frequency of Interaction

Relationships are greatly improved when communications happen with regularity. When there are large gaps in communication, people begin to imagine/create scenarios that may or may not actually exist. They start to question the direction and importance of the relationship. Avoid this dynamic by making sure that communication happens with a high frequency. Even frequent small communications help to keep things on track and people feeling good.

Make and Keep Agreements

One great way to maintain or repair trust levels is to make agreements...and honor them. Agreements allow people to feel heard and respected. Keeping agreements with people demonstrates that you value their relationship and are consciously working to make sure progress is made. This is the fastest way to both destroy or build trust.
